Please share Akira's story below. This beautiful girl deserves a wonderful home. As her foster mom, I wrote this from the heart (and with a few tears,) and I hope it helps someone see her like we do. ❤

Do you like taking walks while the autumn leaves crunch under your feet? Listening to your favorite songs on car rides? Giggling and playing fun games? Cuddling up and relaxing on chilly nights? These are some of my favorite things, and I’d love to do them with you! I’m the kind of girl that you’ll just love to come home to every day! You see, I happen to have this amazing natural talent of putting a smile on everyone’s faces!

My life wasn’t always easy, but that just makes me really appreciate everything people do for me and love them even more! Let me tell you a little about why I’m in need of a forever home.

My story began just before Spring of this year. Someone found me wandering alone in a place called Camden County and brought me to the animal shelter. I honestly don’t remember how I ended up all alone, but no one ever came looking for me. I was really scared, but it was warm there, and soon, I found out that the friendly people there were going to help me! You see, I came in with a big tumor hanging from my belly. It had been bothering me for quite a while, but sadly, I couldn’t drive myself to the vet. The people at the shelter were so nice that they had the vet take off the tumor! I slept through the whole surgery!

I overheard the humans talking one day about a place called TLC Animal Rescue finding me a foster. I had never heard the word foster before, but I soon learned that it was a wonderful thing! It meant that someone let me crash at their place and gave me lots of love while I waited for my forever home! I’ve had a few fosters since then and have loved them all! People are just my favorite!

So now that you know where I came from, let’s talk about where I’m going! As much as I loved all of my foster homes, I’m really hoping that I’ll soon have a forever home to call my own! I’m currently staying with my foster mom and dad at Training Aces Pet Services! Since I’ve been here, my foster dad has really been helping me build up my confidence and social skills! He’s also taught me the manners that I need to be a wonderful house companion. We’ve also gone on car rides and have just started checking out some dog friendly places! I even picked out my own toy at Tractor Supply and showed it off to all of the humans! Have I mentioned how much I love humans? I love them so much in fact that my foster dad says I would make a great therapy dog if we keep working on my confidence in new places! I’d also be content just being your own personal therapy dog after a hard day of work, too!

I can sometimes be little bit of an introvert when it comes to other dogs, but I have made friends with my foster siblings! I’d love to be an only dog, but I don’t think I would mind a fur brother or sister as long as they have a personality that matches well with mine. My favorite foster sibling is really easy going and doesn’t ever make me think he’s going to get mad at me, so we love to play together! If you have a dog like that, we can totally meet with my foster dad around and see if we could be siblings!

I love it here, but I would just really, really love to have a forever home. Could that be you? I promise if you adopt me, I will make your day better every single day for the rest of my life! I’ve stolen a lot of hearts in my time at TLC, and I hope I can steal yours and hold a place in your home and heart forever. ❤

The general adoption process is as follows:

Once we receive your application, the TLC Animal Rescue Board of Directors will review it to see if the animal you are interested in may be compatible with your family.
Once your application has been screened, we will arrange a meet and greet with you and your family members (including pets) and the animal you are interested in.
During this time, one of our adoption coordinators will be contacting your references and your veterinarian to verify if your pets are spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccines.  If the meet and greet was successful, and any other potential adopters have been ruled out, we will schedule a home check and move ahead with the adoption.

We look forward to receiving your application.
